ABOUT ME

Erin Walter (McInnis) BA BSW RSW APHSW-C

We all need to be heard, especially when we're struggling with a life threatening diagnosis or the death of someone close to us. It is often during these times that we can become anxious or feel overwhelmed with the trials of everyday life. There are also times where life is just unpredictable. Talking to a counsellor like myself can help navigate those rough waters. Whether it's a major life decision, moving, experiencing anxiety or re evaluating one's life at any stage.

In my practice, I take the time to hear my clients' stories while making note of and drawing upon their unique strengths and experiences. I then work with them to create a personalized plan to address the areas that are troubling to them and causing them pain.

Hello, my name is Erin Walter (McInnis) and for the past 25 years I have been working directly with families in the rawest and most challenging time of their lives.

I am a registered Social Worker with the OCSWSSW as well as a member with the OASW. I am one of a handful of Social Workers to be certified for Advanced Palliative Hospice Social Worker in Canada, which is an international certification.

Based in the picturesque town of Arnprior, Ontario, I run a private practice EM Consulting as well as being a part of the Arnprior Family Health team. I have spent much of her professional life in Guelph and Wellington County, engaging deeply with community family support and hospice palliative care services.

I offer specialized support for teens and adults grappling with anxiety, stress, and overwhelm. Offering a real life approach to counselling which is refreshing and authentic. Over the past three years, I was able to expand my reach across Ontario, providing virtual counselling that ensures comfort and privacy for my clients.

I am a proud momma and have navigated profound personal loss, having recently endured the heartbreaking death of her youngest child, Owyn, who was killed in a car crash this past November in BC while attending university. Alongside my daughter Brielle, we continue to find strength in community connections and self-care, embodying resilience and the importance of mental health. I am committed to fostering a supportive network underscores my approach to both my personal and professional life, inspiring others to find healing through connection and community.

Feel free to contact me, and together we can take the first step towards clearing the fog of stress and anxiety that you are currently experiencing.

COUNSELLING SESSIONS

We all need to be heard, especially when we're struggling or hurting. When we are truly heard, we are given the opportunity to explore our past and present.  Through guided exploration, we are able to focus on our challenges.

I approach each session with a sincere interest in how you perceive and understand the world around you.

My philosophy in counselling is client centred combined with strength based, solution-focused and a narrative perspective because each client is unique.

This is accomplished by building a trusting relationship with you as a client and creating a collaborative and supportive environment in which you may feel heard and understood.

I work with children and youth, adults, families and seniors.

Counselling sessions are provided via telephone or through video conferencing so that you can stay and comfortable in your home or surroundings.

EM Consulting is committed to providing quality social work support in a safe and effective way.

Find a quiet space and we can talk.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND AWARENESS

Throughout the year, webinars, workshops, blogs and learning opportunities will be offered because growing and learning as a community are extremely important to me.

I believe in the philosophy that it takes a village to grow, and that philosophy is equally true for supporting one another through difficult times. As we change and develop through our experiences, we are then better able to support others around us.

If you are interested in having me speak at a community event, group, lunch and learn or meeting, please contact me, and I will be happy to make arrangements.

Keep in mind that video conferencing is a safe and effective way to communicate with your community as well.
